Our favourite seasonal fruit this summer

  • November 23, 2021

There’s nothing quite like the taste and texture of summer’s most bountiful offerings when they’re fresh, ripe and ready to be enjoyed. We narrowed down three of our favourite fruits that also happen to be in season right now! Run, don’t walk to your local grocer…

  • Lychee

Love a good lychee? You’re not alone! As a great source of Vitamin C, minerals and antioxidants, lychees have found their audience among us Aussies thanks to their cute round and jelly-like appearance and texture. Oh, and their deliciously sweet flavour, of course!

As a subtropical fruit, lychees were originally cultivated in Southern China and were then introduced to Australia around 150 years ago. Ranging in colour from pink to red, their bumpy skin that is easy to peel, revealing an almost translucent colour on the inside.

Providing a sweet, tangy and super juicy taste sensation, we simply can’t pass up a lychee moment. Enjoy your lychees on their own or as an added ingredient to your favourite mocktail or cocktail this summer. Don’t forget, you can also get your lychee fix with our nothing but byron breeze blend.

  • Peach

Feelin’ peach keen? Same! Must have something to do with all future peaches we’re planning on devouring this summer. Smooth, round and with that awesome peach fuzz on top – these delightful stone fruits consist of a sweet flesh that becomes softer and juicier the more the fruit ripens. Importantly, they’re filled with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

Now well and truly in season (think October till April), peaches aren’t just great for snacks – they can also be added to just about anything! From salads to cakes, jams, pavlovas and even sweet pies – there’s no shortage of what a good peach can achieve when put in the right hands.

Ready for a peach history lesson? These round balls of goodness originated in China where they’ve been cultivated and enjoyed for thousands of years, only making their way to Australia in the 19th century.

  • Mango

Some may say we’ve saved the best for last but there was no way we were going to leave out this Aussie summer fave. Enjoying mangoes during the warmer months Down Under is one of our favourite summertime traditions. In fact, it’s almost a rite of passage! Not only do they remind us of Christmas, New Years and holidays spent by the beach – they’re fun to eat and a great source of antioxidants and Vitamin C.

As a tropical stone fruit with an unforgettable aromatic flavour, mangoes have a soft and naturally sweet flesh on the inside and thrive in our warmer climate. Best of all, they’re super versatile and work perfectly on their own, added to your favourite smoothie or even enjoyed as dessert at Yum Cha every now and then. You can also enjoy mango as part of your daily juice routine, with varieties like this one or this tasty and tummy loving probiotic blend.

Ready for an awesome mango fact? Legend has it that Buddha himself meditated under the shade of a mango tree. Not too shabby…
