Filling our cup

Not too long ago, team nudie came together for a very important cause – Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. An initiative by Cancer Council, this yearly event supports those impacted by cancer by raising vital funds in a rewarding (and delicious) way that helps save lives. As a wonderful opportunity to engage friends, family or co-workers, each year thousands come together to celebrate this morning tea and raise a cup to those impacted most. This year, Alexandra Pittet (our amazing Quality Assurance Coordinator) organised the event at nudie HQ. We spoke to her about spreading goodness, raising much-needed funds and why this event matters to all of us in the nudie-verse.

Team nudie participated in the morning tea this year – what kind of goodies did the team bring along and how did the event go?
“We hosted a huge morning tea on site for all staff. Everyone donated a plate of food to share. There was everything you could think of – from fruit platters to pork belly bao buns, Brazilian flan, a variety of sweet cakes and pastries (and yes, even pizza). We had a cake auction on the day too. I baked, decorated and donated the cake to be auctioned to the highest bidder.”
Did anyone use nudie juice in their baking creations this time around?
“Not this time around – but it’s a great idea for next years’ event!”
You were on track to beating the fundraising goal nudie established last year – did you manage to smash your former target? Have you noticed more people willing to give and donate this time around?
“Our target was to beat last years total of $710 and we smashed it, raising over $800. Even with current tough financial pressures, there were more people donating smaller amounts, and those who could not donate money donated their time and a plate of food.”
How do these generous donations help those suffering with cancer and their families?
“Cancer Council is the only charity that works across every area of cancer, from research to prevention and support. Every day, they support people affected by cancer when they need it most, speak out on behalf of the community on cancer issues, empower people to reduce their cancer risk, and find new ways to better detect and treat cancer. These donations – every single dollar – counts towards helping them continue this amazing work.”
Why do you think it’s important to be a creator of good?
“Goodness spreads! When we do kind things for those around us and in our community, it creates a sense of happiness in everyone, which hopefully then inspires others to be creators and lovers of good themselves.”
What do you love most about creating goodness for yourself, the environment but also our wider communities?
“Creating goodness for yourself and those in the wider community instils in you a sense of purpose and pride. We have the opportunity to do things to make the world a better place, and we should take these opportunities to do as much good as we can, even a small act of kindness or goodness influences others to also be creators of good.”
For our readers who aren’t quite sure what an assurance co-ordinator does, tell us a little more about your role at nudie.
“My team ensures all of our juices are made with only the freshest and best quality ingredients, ensuring our loyal customers get the best and safest product. We review and assess all the ingredients we use in our juices on a daily basis ensuring they’re consistently of the highest quality.”
What’s your favourite part of the job?
“Going into work each day is my favourite part of the job, nudies core values of fun, care, teamwork and excellence is shared by all those who work in the business. Our collaborative teams work together from the start at new product idea generation, all the way through to bottling new and exciting products for our customers to enjoy.”
What’s something about your job people would be surprised to learn?
“We drink juice every day, from sampling all raw materials we receive to tasting every single batch manufactured on site……we drink a lot of juice!”
