10 reasons to look forward to Spring

  • October 4, 2022

Spring has nearly sprung, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome the new season! Not only has the chill gone out of the air, but the crispy weather combined with warm sunshine means there’s never a bad moment to take a stroll, breathe in the fresh air and get back to life outdoors. Beyond the weather though – there are plenty of other reasons why this season happens to be our favourite. Here are just a few.

  • 1. Baby animals as far as the eye can see

Yep, it feels like our cute little furry friends are everywhere come springtime – because they are. Typically, most animals will reproduce during this time because there’s plenty of food to keep them happy, healthy and alive. What does this mean for us? Chicks, kittens, puppies, calves – the whole kit and kaboodle.

  • 2. Happiness boost

Thanks to the increased sunlight, our brains go through a positive change due to a rush of serotonin (the hormone that makes you happy). What’s more, the extra sun fuels you up with more energy as it lowers your bodies melatonin levels during the daytime but raises them at night. What does this mean? Easier and better sleep at night, and more oomph during the day when you need it most.

  • 3. Mother Nature takes it up a notch

Ever wake up in Spring and realise that suddenly everything is leafy and green, and all your favourite flowers have bloomed? Thanks to the combination of sun, moisture and warm soil, our plants get a boost during these Spring months. Beyond being aesthetically pleasing, this is super important because this leaf growth helps prepare us for a warm summer – giving us cool and shady trees to relax under if needed. Isn’t Mother Nature crazy?

  • 4. Our creativity thrives

Who knew that going outside could make such a difference? Spending time in the great outdoors isn’t just good for us physically, it’s great for us emotionally and creatively. As our moods get a much-needed boost, being outside also clears our minds, giving us more opportunity to craft creative thoughts and take on new information and ideas.

  • 5. No more dry air

Not that we’re massive fans of the humidity either, but a little moisture never hurt anyone. When it’s cooler, and we experience a humidity drop combined with indoor heating – this can really play havoc on our nasal passages and skin. Noticed you’ve had more sinus issues during winter or maybe even a bleeding nose? The lack of humidity could very well be the culprit. The humidity levels enjoyed during spring not only keeps us feeling better, they protect us better from colds and flu, too. How? It’s simple (although a little gross). Humid air creates more mucous in our noses. This traps germs and viruses, preventing you from getting sick. If you’ve got allergies though, it may be a different story… ahem.

  • 6. Wardrobe updates

Did someone say shopping spree? OK, maybe not BUT it’s super exciting that soon enough, there will be no need for bulky jackets, scarves and what feels like a million layers. Spring style is so much more fun to play with, as it gives you the best of both worlds – a summer outfit by day, a winter outfit by night.

  • 7. Let there be light

No longer shall we be subjected to the pitch dark come 5pm! Springtime calls for extra hours of sunshine and light as the day progresses, allowing us to enjoy more of what we like once the working day is done. Think outdoor dining, BBQs, park hangs and long walks.

  • 8. Party season begins

As we slowly emerge from our winter hibernation, you’ll soon find your social calendar filling up quicker than usual. Now’s the best time for weddings, outdoor birthdays, festivals, events and parties galore. Not only do we have more light and warmer weather, but everyone is eager to leave home and explore the world beyond our own four walls. Bring on the good vibes!

  • 9. Picnics are back, baby

Oh, how we’ve missed sitting on the grass with our favourite nudies by our side. Spring is the perfect time to pack some lunch, gather your friends and head for your favourite park with the dogs in tow. It’s a great way to catch up and entertain, without needing to go to a crowded restaurant or have people over to your place. Just be sure to pack plenty of food, any necessary cutlery and condiments, and a few paper bags to help you clean up your rubbish when you’re done.

  • 10. Halloween is on its way

Can you imagine if Halloween was smack bang in the middle of winter? Yuck! Thankfully, it comes right at a time where it’s cool enough to wear a bulky costume yet bright enough to feel safe walking along the street after work or school. With plenty of people set to be out and about this year trick or treating, you’re sure to have a great night, even if it’s just to people watch and enjoy the dress ups.
