Lucky joyous June!

June is not a month to be scoffed at (assuming you are some one that likes to scoff) for around the world June is regarded as the second most popular month of the year. The most popular is of course December, but December does contain an advantage called Christmas! However, joyous June is regarded as the luckiest month, especially to marry. Indeed, there is a saying:

Married in the month of roses, June -
Life will be one long honeymoon!

Depending upon whether you live north or south of the equator, June also contains the longest and the shortest day of the year. And Australians don't miss out on winter cheer in June either because in the Blue Mountains there's Yulefest - our version of Christmas in June, July and August. (Why have one Christmas when you can have four?!)

One well known and two obscure facts about June!

1

June is named after the Roman goddess Juno who was goddess of marriage. (That's the well known fact!)
2 If you have a well or bubbling spring close by, you could restore an old tradition and decorate it with flowers and greenery in June in ceremonies called Well Dressings... send us a picture of your Well Dressing. (That's a lesser known fact).
3 On June 15th 1878 the first motion picture was made. It was a film of a race horse running. Its purpose? To solve the argument about whether all four hooves were off the ground at full gallop. And yes - it showed conclusively that all four hooves were in the air at once while it runs. (Before this film was made, only the horse knew this fact!).

Fruity facts - strawberries, the only fruits with seeds on the outside!
With June heralding tennis and Wimbledon, and Wimbledon synonymous with strawberries, what better fruity fact could we choose to focus upon this month? Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C and flavinoids. (Flavinoids are a fancy way to say antioxidants).

By the way, each strawberry contains around 200 seeds...and the name strawberry is thought to be from the word strewn - which describes the fruit on the plant, strewn about the ground. Most children will say strawberries are their favourite fruit!

Where's nudie
Last month we asked you what instrument nudie would play? The winner is Samantha Clifton from Main Beach, Victoria. Her suggestion was a piano and her explanation made us chuckle longer than any one else’s…so a well deserved month of nudies will be heading her way soon.

This month we are making things difficult and easy for you! Our nudie is in a bit of a cold fix…but as it’s lower than freezing, nudie loves it! Not much to recognise (snow looks much the same every where in the world) but we will tell you that it is in a Scandinavian country and the capital of this country sounds like an unholy kitchen utility! Email answers to whereis@nudie.com.au and the winner gets a month of free nudies!

Carrying on the cryptic theme...nudie has been washed up on a beach and rescued by a friendly dog. We can tell you that the beach is in Australia... but knowing which beach sounds impossible - even for Tom Cruise! As a tie breaker... tell us the name of the dog!

Email answers by 30th June 2008 to whereis@nudie.com.au and the winner gets a month of free nudies!

nudie us
First to answer last month's call for deserving nudie addicts were Harriet and Elle from Clayfield College in Brisbane. I hope the two of them will be appreciated by their colleagues for we're sending enough nudies for every student in this picture!

If you feel you and your colleagues would benefit from a supply of nudies, email us with the reason why you should win them...and please include a photo and a full address so we know where to drop them off! Email your entry by 30th June 2008 to nudieus@nudie.com.au

New nudie website - step into nudie gardens!
Stepping into nudie gardens has been proving tougher than we first thought. But some clever people have been working around the clock to make it happen...so keep checking the website this month and be one of the first to venture into nudie world!

That's All Folks!
The nudie team!
